  • Title: This required field, limited to 255 characters, identifies this Task in AVEVA Mobile Operator and in audits.

  • Description: Enter a more verbose description of this Task, if desired. This field is limited to 2000 characters.

  • Dynamic Asset: Check this box to allow the Operator to select the Asset for this Task when working the Procedure. See the description of Dynamic vs. Static assets under Assets.

  • Asset: (Only available if "Static Asset" is selected.) Choose an Asset (see Assets) to associate with this Task, if desired. This setting is used to enable Shared Data Points, and by default will be the same as the Task’s parent Task Group.

    • Click the ellipsis () button and choose the Asset from the Asset List browser that appears.

    • To remove an Asset from association with a Task, click the "X" () button.

  • Asset Type: (Only available if "Dynamic Asset" is selected.) If desired, you may narrow the Operator’s Asset selection to Assets of the Type selected here (see Asset Types).

  • Allow Sub-Types: (Only available if "Dynamic Asset" is selected and an Asset Type is selected.) Allows the Operator to pick an asset whose asset type is a sub-type (child) of the asset type configured here.

  • Asset Type Property: This optional field becomes available after assigning an Asset to this Task, in order to enable creation of Shared Data Points. To create a Shared Data Point:

    • Click the ellipsis () button to select a Shared Data Point to attach from the browser that appears, then click OK to accept the selection.

    • Click the "X" () button to clear the Asset Type Property setting.

  • Mobile History: Governs the amount of historical data sent to the handheld.

Note: The "Mobile History" setting is not available if an Asset Type Property is selected. In this case, the "Mobile History" setting of the Asset Type Property is used.

  • Note: Shared Data Points are not shared across Bases.

    • Default: Uses the system setting in the AVEVA Mobile Operator web application (see the AVEVA Mobile Operator Web Help) to determine the amount of historical data sent.

    • Days: Sends the amount of data points read in the last X days to the mobile application. After choosing this option, enter an appropriate value in the "Number of Days:" field that appears.

    • Points: Sends the last X data points read to the mobile application. After choosing this option, enter an appropriate value in the "Number of Points:" field that appears.

  • Default Value: Use this Expression Editor Wizard (see Expression Wizards) to select the Default Value for this Task. This value will appear when the Procedure is being worked by the mobile application user, who may accept or change the value.

  • Data Type: Select the type of data this Task will collect.

    • Number: Sets the Task’s input for non-date numerical entry, using one of the configured Units of Measure (see Units of Measure). Selecting this option will open the "Unit of Measure," "Min Expected," and "Max Expected" attributes (described below).

    • Text: Configures the Task for alphanumerical text entry.

    • Date: Assigns the task to Date input, which is selected by the mobile application user from a calendar.

    • Lists: Sets the Task for input from a Response List. Selecting this option will open the "Response List" attribute (described below).

    • Calculation: Configures the Task’s value as the result of a calculation. Selecting this option will open the "Output Data Type" attribute and will replace the "Default Value" attribute with "Calculation Expression" (described below).

    • DateTime: Sets this Task to accept input of both date and time.

  • Unit of Measure: Optionally, specify the units in which the entry for a Task using numerical input shall be measured (e.g. inches, centimeters, gallons, liters).

Note: No calculations/conversions are made based on this setting.

    • To choose a Unit of Measure to represent this Task’s numerical input, click the ellipsis () button and select the desired unit from the Unit of Measure List (see Units of Measure).

    • To remove the Unit of Measure association, click the "X" () button.

  • Min Expected: Sets the minimum expected value for a Task using numerical input. If the mobile application user enters a value less than that specified by the "Min Expected" setting, the user will receive a confirmation warning.

  • Max Expected: Sets the maximum expected value for a Task using numerical input. If the mobile application user enters a value greater than that specified by the "Max Expected" setting, the user will receive a confirmation warning.

  • Min/Max Values Should Only Produce a Warning on Mobile: When unchecked (default), AVEVA Mobile Operator app will not allow a mobile application user to navigate away from a Task if the provided Task value is outside of the range specified by the "Min" and "Max" values. With this option checked, AVEVA Mobile Operator app will display a warning, but will allow the user to proceed after providing a value outside of the "Expected" range.

  • Response List: Specifies the Response List used by a Task using List input.

    • To choose a Response List for this Task, click the ellipsis () button and select the desired Response List from the browser that appears.

    • To remove a Response List association, click the "X" () button.

Tip: The "Restrict to List" box prevents the mobile application user from entering his or her own response.

  • Output Data Type: Defines the type of data provided by the Calculation Expression for a Task using Calculation input. See the "Calculation Expression" section below, and The Calculation Expression Editor, for more information.

    • Number: Directs AVEVA Mobile Operator app to expect a numerical result from the calculation. Selecting this option displays the "Unit of Measure," "Min Expected," and "Max Expected" attributes (explained in detail above).

    • Text: Configures AVEVA Mobile Operator app to expect an alphanumeric text result from the calculation.

    • Date: Indicates that AVEVA Mobile Operator app should expect the calculation to provide Date output, which will be displayed in the format selected on the Advanced tab.

    • DateTime: Directs AVEVA Mobile Operator app to expect a Date and Time from the calculation, which will be displayed in the format selected on the Advanced tab.

  • Default Value: Sets a default value for the mobile application user’s approval or modification. This option is most often used with List type inputs (e.g. a "Yes/No" question where the answer is usually "Yes"), but can be used with every input type except Calculations. There are two ways to enter a Default Value.

    • Note:

      • If "Default Value" is left blank, the mobile application user must enter the value manually.

      • The "Default Value" fuction can use the Expression Editor, but only to provide the default value. To create a calculation that uses its results as the input to a Task, set the "Data Type" to "Calculation."
