Use the Errors/Warnings panel to aid validation

Validation is unavailable until all errors preventing release are corrected. You may also wish to resolve any errors or warnings that do not prevent release, as they may cause problems later.

To help, Procedure Builder provides a search mechanism that enables the user quickly to jump to errors or warnings within the Procedure. To use the Errors/Warnings Panel, perform the steps below.

  1. Run Validation on the Procedure (see Validate Procedures).

  2. Click the "Warning" icon () on the toolbar. A panel labeled "Errors/Warnings" appears to the right.

Note: This panel behaves as most others in the Management Center with a few exceptions. For more information regarding resizing and pinning, refer to Window and panel behavior.

  3. (Optional): If desired, modify the search parameters as follows:

By default, this panel displays all errors and warnings. Three filters at the top of this panel, allow narrowing the results as follows.

    • Error: When checked, includes all errors that prevent saving the Procedure to the database.

    • Prevents Release: When checked, includes all errors that prevent Release. These errors do not prevent the Procedure from being saved.

    • Warnings: When checked, includes Warnings, which indicate areas of potential problems. For example, when an Asset Type contains in its hierarchy multiple Asset Type Properties with the same name

  4. To jump to a specific Error or Warning, double click its listing in the Errors/Warnings Panel. The Procedure will expand as necessary to select the appropriate Node.

  5. Hover the mouse pointer over either the Node in the Procedure, or the Error / Warning list entry, for information regarding the problem (e.g. "[Prevents Release] Jump Destination is required for the action").

  6. Correct the listed problem from within the Node’s details.
