Important: Reprocessing is currently available for Inventory events and Quality events.
After you make changes to Inventory or Quality data, you are ready to reprocess Inventory data to commit the changes. The reprocessing action updates the modified records and updates other records affected by the changes.
Until you reprocess the Inventory data, all record changes have a status of Pending.
Note You can also choose to do a partial reprocessing from a point in time. See Reprocess data from point in time.
Versions of data
There are the versions of the data.
|
Data version |
Description |
|---|---|
|
Base version |
The base version of finalized data. This version cannot be modified and therefore not reprocessed. |
|
Current version |
The most recent successfully processed or reprocessed version of data. This version that has not been finalized. It can be modified and therefore can be reprocessed. |
|
Candidate version |
The set of data that is actively being reprocessed. If reprocessing completes with success the candidate version becomes the current version. If reprocessing is canceled or fails to finish, then it is abandoned and deleted. |
Note Inventory reprocessing accepts data from work units as well as work centers.
What happens during reprocessing?
During reprocessing the following operations occur:
-
AVEVA Production Management processes all unfinalized movement events and quality events.
-
AVEVA Production Management creates a new version of the unfinalized Inventory data.
-
Upon successful completion, AVEVA Production Management replaces the old version of unfinalized Inventory data with the new version.
-
If the operation does not finish successfully, or is canceled, AVEVA Production Management discards the new version of Inventory data and retains the old version.
Note Depending on the number of unfinalized events, the reprocessing operation can take a long time to finish.
Some guidelines
-
Users who do not have appropriate permissions cannot see the reprocessing window or start reprocessing operations.
-
Any user with appropriate permissions can view or cancel the progress of the reprocessing operation. Canceling the reprocess operation returns all records to their original state.
-
During reprocessing, some events may be unsuccessful due to business rules. In such cases, an appropriate message is appended to either the movement event (visible in the Movement Events view) or quality event (visible in the Quality Events view); however, the reprocessing operation finishes as successful and then reports the number of events with error. A breakdown of movement versus quality event errors can be seen by hovering over the error icon on the Event Editor.
Note Warnings are not included in the error count.
To reprocess all data since Finalization point in time
If you select All, then AVEVA Production Management will reprocess data from the last Finalization point, unless the data has never been finalized, in which case, it will reprocess all data since the earliest point in time.
-
Click Reprocess to reprocess all Inventory data that has not yet been finalized.

-
On the Inventory reprocessing window, select All unfinalized data, then click Start reprocessing.

The Inventory reprocessing window shows the real-time progress of the reprocessing operation and provides a summary on the results.
