Copy and paste an item

You can copy an item from one branch in Project Explorer and paste it into another. When you want to move an item, copy the item to the new location, and then delete the original.

A Studio item in your project hierarchy executes a particular function. For example, an item can be a field, a reporting point, or a data source. It has it's own properties and can be individually stopped or started.

Use the copy and paste menu items

1. Click the item you want to copy, and on the Edit menu, select Copy.

2. Click the item you want to paste, and on the Edit menu, select Paste.

3. Right-click the item you want to copy and select Copy.

4. Right-click the item you want to paste and select Paste.

Use the shortcut keys

5. Select the item and press CTRL + C.

6. Select the item and press CTRL + V.

Note: If you paste an item into a level that already has an item of the same name, AVEVA™ Production Management appends a digit to the item name. For example, an item called Switch is renamed Switch1.
