About lot behavior

  • Last UpdatedFeb 13, 2024

The LotBehavior property on a piece of equipment defines the whether the equipment tracks lots and how it selects lots to move in and out of the piece of equipment.

Types of lot behavior

There are five types of lot behavior that you can specify for a piece of equipment:

Lot-tracking equipment

When a piece of equipment is lot-tracking, it has the following characteristics:

  • If a destination equipment tracks lots, lot identifiers can be generated for material after it enters the equipment. Moving a lot to the equipment does not break the genealogy of the lot.

  • If a source equipment tracks lots, it permits lot splitting. That is, a lot can be divided so that part of the lot can be moved from the equipment.

  • If a destination equipment tracks lots, a new lot identifier must be generated for any part of a split lot that moves to the equipment.

  • An unsplit lot can retain its lot identifier if it moves from a source equipment that tracks lots to a destination equipment that tracks lots.

Quantity-based vs lot-based

  • In a quantity-based movement, the user specifies the quantity of material to move rather than specific lots.

  • In a lot-based movement, the user specifies the lot to move, and then can optionally specify an amount of that lot to move.

Weighted average-based

  • If removal is weighted average-based, then the material is removed from the lots in weighted amounts based on the balance of the lots at the source.

Example: Removing material based on weighted average

Let's say 30 tons of material is moved from LotGroup1, which contains three lots.
