Add and configure a Decision rule

  • Last UpdatedApr 07, 2025
  • 2 minute read

After defining at least one input value with an expression to be evaluated, you can add one or more rules to evaluate the input conditions.

Root-level inputs and outputs

If you add an output to the Decision matrix, the output item appears below the Decision matrix, as well as below all rules that belong to the Decision matrix. Meaning, every output belongs to every rule. You cannot delete outputs from under a Rule. You can delete Outputs only at the root level of the Decision matrix.

Guidelines

  • At any point of time, only one rule can be active.

  • If multiple rules are active, due to configuration, the first active rule is considered to be the active.

  • The data type of the corresponding output of all rules should be the same as stream type. This is enforced by configuration. The stream type of the output of the rule is read only, and depends on the corresponding Decision matrix output.

To add a rule

  1. Right-click the Decision matrix and select Add Rule. A new rule appears.

  2. Rename the rule with a meaningful name.

  3. Configure the properties. For guidance in configuring the properties, see Rule properties.
