About external identifiers

An external identifier is a field within AVEVA™ Production Management that contains a unique identifier from a system outside of AVEVA Production Management, such as SAP or an ERP. This external identifier field enables AVEVA Production Management to recognize the external item using its own identifier.
For example, a movement in SAP has an identifier. The SAP identifier is entered into the RecordIdentifier field in AVEVA Production Management so that AVEVA Production Management recognizes the SAP movement.

External configuration identifiers
An external configuration identifier (ECI) is an identifier that can be configured on an item in Studio. You can add or edit an ECI in Studio.
The following table contains a list and description of the external configuration identifiers available in AVEVA Production Management.

Any view where the material field is displayed. A record with material also displays the material identifier for that material. |

Any view where the material class field is displayed. A record with a material class also displays the material class identifier for that material class. |

EquipmentIdentifier |
A unique identifier for equipment from external systems. The EquipmentIdentifier cannot be the same as any other EquipmentIdentifier or LocationIdentifier. |
Any view where the equipment field is displayed. A record with equipment also displays the equipment identifier for that material. |

LocationIdentifier |
A unique identifier for reporting points from external systems. The LocationIdentifier cannot be the same as any other LocationIdentifier or EquipmentIdentifier. |
Any view where the work center or location field is displayed. A record with a work center or location also displays the location identifier for that work center or location. |

A unique identifier for equipment scope from external systems. |

External record identifiers
An external record identifier (ERI) is an identifier that can be specified on a record in AVEVA Production Management. You can filter or view an ERI through the Service Bus, Web Services, or Production Analyst. You can apply an ERI to a movement record or a quality record.
