AVEVA™ Production Management

Lot matching for Material Quality reporting points

  • Last UpdatedMar 11, 2025

You can set the QualityMatchingStrategy property on a Material Quality reporting point to use one of two methods of lot matching:

  • ByLotIdentifier

  • ByRecordIdentifier

ByLotIdentifier quality matching strategy

When a Material Quality reporting record is created, AVEVA™ Production Management tries to match it with an existing lot record based on the Lot External Identifier, work center, and Material of the lot. If a matching lot record is found, an association between the two records is automatically created by AVEVA™ Production Management and users can view the custom lot fields for the associated lot in Inventory views.

The following properties enable AVEVA™ Production Management to determine the mapping between Material Quality reporting point records and Lot records.

A similar mapping is done between Lot records and Lot reporting point records, as well as Lot Group records and Lot Group reporting point records.

To enable this quality matching strategy, select the ByLotIdentifier option for the QualityMatchingStrategy property on a Material Quality reporting point. You also set the IsMandatory property to True for the Lot and Material fields under Material Quality reporting point.

ByRecordIdentifier quality matching strategy

AVEVA™ Production Management uses a unique RecordIdentifier field in Process Quality to match a Quality record with movements where the SampleIdentifier field is the same as the value in the Quality RecordIdentifier field. The quality data may be late arriving.

When you add a Quality record, AVEVA™ Production Management uses the unique value you enter in the Quality RecordIdentifier field to match the record with any movements where the SampleIdentifier is the same.

To enable this quality matching strategy, select the ByRecordIdentifier option for the QualityMatchingStrategy property on a Material Quality reporting point. You also set the IsMandatory property to True for the RecordIdentifier field under Material Quality reporting point.

When you select a quality matching strategy of ByRecordIdentifier, configure the following on the Material Quality reporting point:

  • On the Lot standard field, set the IsMandatory and the ShowInDetails properties to False.

  • On the RecordIdentifier standard field, set the IsMandatory property to True.

Scenario

Three trucks move material from the Mine Block into Work Center 1. All movements are assigned a SampleIdentifier of A. TRUCK1 and TRUCK2 move the material to LOT1, and TRUCK3 moves the material to LOT2. Later a Quality Controller takes a sample of the material in the Mine Block, and adds a Quality record with a RecordIdenfier of A. AVEVA™ Production Management compares the Quality RecordIdentifier value with the movement SampleIdentifier value, and where they are the same, matches the Quality to the lots.
