Sorting cause codes

Notes about sorting cause codes

  • You can specify alphabetical sorting for items within the same lookup list by setting the Sorted property on the parent list item.

  • If you don't specify alphabetical sorting, the display order within that list is determined by the Display order property.

  • It's possible to have nested lookup lists; therefore, a list in the client may display the contents of several lookup lists. On the Editing dialog box, all items will combine and appear alphabetically even though they are originally from different lookup lists. However, in the Filter dialog, the list items will not combine alphabetically. All items will appear in same drop-down list, but the list items will appear grouped by their original lookup lists. Keep this in mind when nesting lists.

Sort the items in the cause code list

  1. Select the Cause Code Lookup List parent item.

Studio project hierarchy view showing an expanded Lookup Lists item and list of Cause Codes.

  2. In the Properties pane, set the Sorted property to True or False.

    • True - All items in this lookup list will sort alphabetically.

    • False - Order within the list is determined by the Display order property.

  3. On the Project menu, click Save.
