Add and configure an OPC DA data source

An OPC Data Source item establishes that the connection is to an OPC DA-compliant system.

  • Stores the other OPC DA connector items that you add.

  • Manages the interactions between the items of the OPC DA connector library.

  • Indicates the active connection and its status.

You can add the data source to any applications folder or group them in an ApplicationFolder item under System Configuration. A project can contain multiple data sources.

To add an OPC DA datasource

  1. In the Project Explorer right-click System Configuration, point to Add Item, point to Standard Items, and then click Applications Folder. An ApplicationsFolder item appears.

  2. Rename the folder with a meaningful name.

  3. Right-click the folder, point to Add Item, point to Connectors, and then click OPC DA. A new OPC Data Source item appears.

  4. Rename the item with a meaningful name.

  5. Configure the properties. For guidance in configuring the properties, see OPC DA data source properties.
