An Equipment template eases the burden and repetition of configuration for common pieces of equipment that occur at multiple points throughout a project hierarchy.
You can define the properties for a class of equipment as a template. A template can contain cycle managers and reporting points, including child items of reporting points. After you associate the equipment template with a defined equipment class and apply the template, sub-items and properties are inherited to pieces of equipment that belong to that class.
In this way, preconfigured properties are applied in bulk to classes of equipment, which greatly reduces the amount of required configuration.
The use of templates promotes standardization and consistency across projects. For more information on another type of template, see About the Downtime reporting point template.
Add a cycle manager to an equipment template
You can add cycle managers to templates to associate downtimes with certain stages of the process cycle. You can add as many cycle managers as you want to a template.
