Add custom properties to a class

AVEVA™ Production Management provides the ability for you to configure custom property definitions for classes. Then, when an item is associated with a class, that item displays the custom class properties that are defined for that class.

Sort custom property definitions

  • Click the Name title bar or the Default Value title bar to sort in ascending or descending alphabetical order.

Note: Be careful when you add custom properties because going back to delete or edit custom properties later can cause complications.

Add a custom property to a class

  1. In Studio, on the Class Explorer tab, select an Equipment Class, Material Class, or Personnel Class item.

  2. In the Properties pane, next to the Property Definitions property, click Browse (...) The Property Definitions editor appears.

  3. Click Add.

  4. Under Name, type a name for the property. Properties are inheritable and must be unique within this class hierarchy, including parent and child classes.

  5. Under Description, type a description to appear on the Properties pane when this property is selected.

  6. Under Property Type, select the data type for the custom property:

    • Boolean

    • Int32

    • Int64

    • Single

    • Double

    • String

    • DateTime - Type the format as YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS.0000000. For example, 2008-09-12 10:59:23.0000000.

  7. Under Default Value, type the default value to populate this property.

  8. Click OK.
