AVEVA™ Production Management

Restore an AVEVA Production Management project

  • Last UpdatedFeb 13, 2024

You can make a project backup at any time and the server continues to run without interruption; however, to restore a project, the server stops. Studio is disconnected during the restoration process. After restoration, the server restarts, and each Studio client is reconnected automatically. The restored project downloads and displays on clients appropriately.

Note: Because a restore can be made from any instance of Studio connected to Server, it is possible to replace the currently running project with another project even while other clients or Studio is connected. These clients and other instances of Studio are summarily disconnected from the current project, and reconnected when the restored project is loaded.

Persisted runtime data

In the Project Restore confirmation dialog box, the Preserve persisted runtime property values check box is selected by default. This means that AVEVA™ Production Management retains the current persisted runtime data values during import. If you clear this check box, the current values for persisted runtime data are lost, because they are replaced with the persisted runtime data values that were valid at the time the backup took place.

Restore a project

  1. In Studio, open the project that you want to restore. See, Open a project in Service Manager.

  2. On the Project menu, click Restore.

  3. Browse to and select the backup file for restoration and then click Open. A confirmation dialog box appears.

  4. Select or clear the Preserve persisted runtime property values check box and then click Yes.

Restore project configuration database confirmation dialog box.

  5. When the Project restore dialog box appears, click OK.
