AVEVA™ Production Management

Change current state of Recipe records

  • Last UpdatedApr 28, 2025
  • 2 minute read

The state of a Recipe record can change either automatically, manually, or both.

  • In Studio, you can use expressions to configure automatic transitions on an updated recipe record.

  • In Production Analyst, authorized users can initiate manual transitions. With an expression, you can configure AVEVA Production Management to limit the list of next available states for manual transitions. For example, an operator cannot activate a record that does not have a parameter assigned.

For both automatic and manual state transitions, you can configure AVEVA Production Management to enable a specific number of records to be in a certain state at one time.

Visualizing states

For each state, you can configure a different color when Recipe records are displayed in AVEVA Production Management. This screen shows an example of highlighting recipe records in different colors.

What happens when you activate a Planning record?

You can configure AVEVA Production Management so that when a Planning record’s state changes to Active, AVEVA Production Management downloads the values in some fields to an automation system.

Planning confirms the successful downloading of values to the automation system and reports any issues to the user. You can configure rules on what values AVEVA Production Management can download. Planning reports any violations of these validation rules to the user.

Downloading recipes

When a planner record’s state changes to Active and the record has a product with a recipe configured, then the recipe for the product is downloaded to the automation system. This is also true for the configured machine recipe.

You can configure AVEVA Production Management so that a user is required to enter the values for some fields before download. This screen shows an example where the user is required to enter the values for two parameters or accept the default.
