A Studio item in your project hierarchy executes a particular function. For example, an item can be a field, a reporting point, or a data source. It has it's own properties and can be individually stopped or started. For more information on item, see Item default state and startup.

Add an item to a project

  1. Click the level in the project hierarchy where you want to add an item.

  2. Right-click on the selected level item, select the item you want to add. AVEVA™ Production Management adds the item to your project. You can do this too on the Edit menu, Add Item.

  3. Rename the item with a meaningful name.

When you first add an item, change the default name for the item. The rename command is run automatically the first time an item is added to the project. Start typing to replace the default name and then press Enter to commit the name change.

Note: You cannot assign the same name to more than one item at the same level in the project hierarchy.

New or modified items in Studio appear blue in the Project Explorer hierarchy until saved.

Copy items

You can cut, copy, and paste any item in the project hierarchy with either the Studio menu or the right-click menu when you click an item in the hierarchy. You can also move or duplicate items in the project hierarchy along with their configured properties.
