Fields define the data that you want AVEVA™ Production Management to record. A reporting point comes with a set of standard fields specific to the module, and, for most modules, you can also add custom fields to the reporting point.
You can configure standard fields, but you cannot delete or change the names of standard fields. You can add, configure, and delete custom fields.

Fields perform the important task of aggregating data; for this reason it is important that give consideration to naming of custom fields and compatible data types.
Types of field behavior
A field can exhibit different characteristics, depending on its property settings.
-
Editable field
An editable field is a field with its property set to True. In AVEVA™ Production Management, users can edit the captured data of an editable field.
-
Hidden field
A hidden field is a field with its property set to False. Hidden fields do not appear in the Results Grid of AVEVA Production Management; however, they can still contain data, and they can appear in dialog boxes such as to add and edit records.
-
Filterable field
A filterable field is a field with its property set to True. Filterable fields appear in the Filter Records dialog box of AVEVA™ Production Management.
You can filter the fields that appear in Results data grid with specifications in the Filter Records dialog box.

For more information on filtering, see Filtering rules for String Values in the ClientHelp.
-
Mandatory field
A mandatory field is a field with its IsMandatory property set to True. AVEVA™ Production Management cannot add a new record or save changes to an edited record if the record includes a mandatory field that does not contain data. A module may or may not contain standard fields that are mandatory fields by default.
In Production Analyst, the dialog box displays an exclamation mark when a mandatory field is required.
