Work units are locations within the equipment model where AVEVA™ Production Management tracks the balance of materials and the transactions that affect the balance. They are sub-items of work centers. A work unit is the lowest level of equipment where inventory is managed.
Types of work units
When you choose the type of work unit for any particular location on the plant hierarchy, match the process that the location uses:
-
A Work Cell represents a work unit that is used in repetitive or discrete production. See, Add and configure work cell properties.
-
A Unit represents a work unit that is used in batch or continuous production.See, Add and configure work unit properties.
-
A Storage Unit represents a work unit that is used for storage.See, Add and configure storage unit properties.

Inherited values
Work units inherit the values of these properties from their parent work centers. However, you can override the values with local values for the work unit.
