About lot groups

A lot group enables you to define specific lots as being related to each other, or belonging to the same group.
When moving lots in and out of work centers, this makes a difference to the queue behavior. You can specify that lots belonging to a specific lot group are prioritized in the queue.
Lot groups and material classes
Lot groups can be associated with only one material class. This material class is inherited from the material class that is associated to the material of the first lot moved onto the lot group.
The material class for a lot group can end up being <empty>, which means that the lot group is then constrained to lots with materials that have an <empty> material class.
Lot groups and survey results
You can use a survey result to change the balance of a lot group to reflect the result of a survey. AVEVA™ Production Management uses the survey result to automatically calculate the adjustment so that the balance of the lot group is equal to the balance of the survey result.

Example
LotGroupA contains three lots with a total lot group balance of 100. An aerial survey is performed on the lot group and determines that the surveyed balance of the lot group is 90. AVEVA™ Production Management calculates the adjustments to apply to the lots so that the lot group balance is equal to the survey result. AVEVA™ Production Management applies the adjustments with the same weight as the current lot balances.
