Add and configure work cell properties

A work cell represents a type of work unit that is used in repetitive or discrete production. For more information on work units, see About work units.

Note: Work cells inherit the values of these properties from their parent work centers: AllowedMaterials, LotBehavior, LotGroupRequired. However, you can override the values with local values for the work unit.

You can add a work cell to a Production Line work center in the plant hierarchy.

Add a work cell

  1. In Project Explorer, right-click a Production Line work center, point to Add Item, point to Work Units, and then click Work Cell. A new work cell appears.

Studio project hierarchy view showing an expanded Area Folder with 2 work centers and a newly added work cell item.

  2. Rename the work cell with a meaningful name.

  3. Configure the properties. For guidance in configuring the properties, see Work cell properties.
