Back up a project

  • Last UpdatedFeb 13, 2024

Make backup copies of your project after you make any major changes to the configuration. This permits you to restore a project to the level of the most recent backup. You could also restore a project to any earlier version of which you have made a backup. Periodically archive your project backup files off site for disaster recovery purposes.

Note: Studio must be connected to Server for a backup or restore to occur.

The backup makes a compressed copy of the currently connected project configuration SQL Server database to a file name and location you choose. The default filename is blank, and the default folder is the My Documents folder in the Windows personal profile of the currently logged-in user. You must enter a filename.

The Backup dialog box follows normal Windows file naming conventions. If present, any characters after the last dot become the file extension. If you do not enter a file extension, the default .amplabackup is appended to the file name.

Persisted runtime data

Persisted runtime data is also included in the backup. The option to retain the current values or restore the backed-up values is provided in the restore confirmation dialog box.

Restore project configuration database confirmation dialog box.
