Convert a PI variable to status variable

Use the Convert to status variable option in the context menu of a PiVariable item to convert a PI variable to a status variable.

To convert a PI variable

1. In the Project Explorer, select the PiVariable item you want to convert, right-click, and then select Convert to status variable.

   

   The PiVariable tag icon changes its color from yellow to green and its TypeName property changes to status variable.

2. Rename the item with a meaningful name.

3. Configure the properties if necessary. For guidance in configuring the properties, refer to PI status variable properties.
