Resolve MDM conflicts

When conflicts arise from the MDM synchronization process, you can examine and decide how to handle these conflicts. You are able to view current and past conflicts.

Note: If synchronization between AVEVA™ Production Management and the master data source occurs while you are in the conflict management UI, a message displays when you attempt to submit changes. The message informs you that, as a result of the synchronization, the current conflict information is no longer valid. The changes you made on the conflicts are lost. However, changes made on the project are not be affected.

Open the conflict resolution interface

  • Double-click the File2AmplaSynchronization item, or right-click and select Open Conflict Resolver.

Use the conflict resolution interface

The conflict resolution interface appears in the center panel of Studio to assist you examine and resolve synchronization conflicts. You can apply filters through the filter interface to reduce the number of reported conflicts that display.

Note: Save your project to commit conflict resolution changes.

Filter the MDM conflict results

The conflict resolution interface includes several elements:

  • Filter box to specify which conflicts to report.

  • Auto Resolve toolbar to determine what course of action to take for a conflict.

  • Conflict Data box reports information elements about the conflict item.

  • MetaData box displays any embedded metadata contained within conflict items.

Filter

Specifying filter parameters to filter the conflicts that display.

Name

Type a string or sub-string to return only results where the string appears in the node name.

Location

Type a string or sub-string to return only results where the string appears anywhere in the location name.

Conflict Type

Select a conflict type: Add, Remove, or Edit.

Operation

Select an operation: Add, Delete, Update, or Rename.

Conflict Status

Select a conflict type: New, Resolved, Ignored.

Clear

Click Clear to clear values in the Filter box.

Apply Filter

Click Apply Filter to run the filter and display results.

Auto Resolve toolbar

You can use the Auto-Resolve toolbar to decide what action to perform for a conflict.

Auto Resolve

Automatically performs the action that is specified by the Resolution field. When the action is Delete this action is implicitly recursive, that is the Auto-Resolve deletes the item and the children of the item.

Mark Resolved

You can manually mark as resolved if you consider the item to be resolved outside of the auto resolve process. This action is implicitly recursive when the action is Delete.

Ignore

Ignores the item selected in the hierarchy. This action is recursive.

Un-Ignore

Undoes the Ignore command. This action is recursive.

Conflict Data

The Conflict Data box reports the following information about the conflict item.

Conflict

Name of the item in conflict.

Type

The type of data for the item in conflict: Class Property, Class Association, Class, Model, Model Property.

State

The current status of the item in conflict: Ignored, Resolved, New.

Action

The valid courses of action for this conflict item: Delete, Add, Update, Rename.

Resolution

The action that takes place on the Auto-Resolve command.

Comments

Any comments about the conflict item.

Meta Data

The Meta Data box displays any embedded metadata contained within the conflict item.
