AVEVA™ Production Management

Reprocessing Late Arriving data

Late-arriving data is data that relates to a record but is not available when the record is created or at the correct time. AVEVA™ Production Management enables you to include late-arriving data after the initial capture time, so that the data is included in the correct sample period.

When late-arriving data is input, AVEVA™ Production Management flags the record to which the data applies. Reprocess the record so that the correct information is calculated.

The HasError icon with tooltip Embedded Image (65% Scaling) (LIVE) displays next to late-arriving records in the Movement Events view. You can also view processing information in the Editing Panel.

Example 1: Late-arriving data with earlier timestamp than a survey result

For example, in the first diagram the original balance of LOT1 is 90. A survey is performed on the lot, and an adjustment made that takes the balance of LOT1 to 100 to match the survey result. Later, there is late arriving data of 20. This late arriving data is meant for a sample period 2, but the data was not available at that time. If you do not reprocess this record, AVEVA™ Production Management follows the inputs in real time, which means the balance of LOT1 is 120. This is incorrect as the input at Time 4, was meant for a sample period before the survey result. As the survey result is the correct balance of the lot, the correct final balance is 100.

Example 2: Late-arriving data with same timestamp as a survey result

In the second diagram, a survey is performed on the lot, and an adjustment made which takes the balance of LOT1 to 100 to match the survey result. Later, there is late arriving data of 20. This late arriving data has the same sample period as the survey result. When late arriving data has the same sample period as a survey result, reprocess the record, so that AVEVA™ Production Management calculates the correct balance to equal the survey result.
