When a lot group is assigned a material class, this means only materials belonging to the assigned material class will be valid for the lot group.

Material Class

Material

Coal (parent class)

CC-A, CC-B, UC-A, UC-B

Crushed Coal (child class)

CC-A, CC-B

Uncrushed Coal (child class)

UC-A, UC-B, UC-C

Scenario 1: Two child material classes

In Scenario 1, if LotGroupA is associated with material class CrushedCoal, then material lots of CC-A, CC-B are valid.

If LotGroupB is associated with material class UncrushedCoal, then material lots of UC-A, UC-B, UC-C are valid.

Scenario 2: Parent material class and child material class

Note: Parent material classes do not inherit the materials belonging to a child material class inside the parent class.

In Scenario 2, if LotGroupC is associated with parent material class Coal, then material lots of CC-A, CC-B, UC-A, UC-B are valid.

However, it is invalid to move a lot with UC-C material into LotGroupC, because this material does not belong to the parent class Coal.
