AVEVA™ Production Management

Material movement lookup service

  • Last UpdatedMar 10, 2025
  • 2 minute read

Important: This feature works only when there is a single enterprise or site folder at the root of the equipment hierarchy.

The material movement lookup service feature enables external systems to submit movement events to AVEVA Production Management that include the least information required by AVEVA™ Production Management to receive and process a valid movement event. Given the minimum values from an external system, AVEVA™ Production Management attempts to match the details against a configured material movement item in Studio.

AVEVA Production Management attempts to find a matching material movement

  1. AVEVA™ Production Management uses the provided Location or Location Identifier to select a configured material movement, and goes straight to matching material classes (Step 3).

Note: If the configured material movement references a work center that has work units below it as the Source Equipment or Destination Equipment, then the Source or Destination Equipment cannot be inferred by the Movement matching service. You must provide the relevant Source or Destination Equipment.

  2. If no Location is provided, AVEVA™ Production Management looks at the Source Equipment and Destination Equipment and attempts to find a configured material movement.

  3. AVEVA™ Production Management atempts to find matching Material classes

If present, AVEVA™ Production Management loks at the Material Class constraints under the Material Movement to determine the Material Classes that match the provided the Source Material Class and Destination Class.

After AVEVA™ Production Management matches the available information in the external system to the defined information in AVEVA™ Production Management, it populates the missing information and process the movement.

Note: If AVEVA™ Production Management cannot find an existing configured movement for the movement event, it attempts to process the event as an ad-hoc movement event.
