AVEVA™ Production Management

About the OLE-DB connection string

An OLE DB connection string is a string version of the initialization properties that AVEVA™ Production Management requires to connect to an OLE DB data source.

This example shows that the string consists of a series of keyword/value pairs separated by semicolons. The equal sign (=) associates each keyword with its value.

keyword1="value"; keyword2="value"

Keywords can contain any printable character; however, any equal sign (=) in a keyword must be preceded by an additional equal sign to indicate that it is part of the keyword. If multiple equal signs appear, each one must be preceded by an additional equal sign.

The value of a keyword must be specified as a string. The value depends on the property being set and the value that the OLE DB provider expects.

Different OLE DB data providers may use customized properties and property values.

The initialization properties of the OLE DB data connection do not make a connection string. However, when the properties of the data connection are set to match those of an OLE DB connection string, it is analogous to connect with the use of a connection string with those properties and values as keyword/value pairs.
