Add and configure a material

You can add and group materials in one location in the project: the Material Model folder of the project hierarchy. AVEVA™ Production Management locates materials in one folder to make it easier for you to organize and maintain.

Use material folders to organize materials

You can use material folders to separate materials into logical groups.

Note: A material folder is for logical grouping and convenience. It does not perform the function of a material class.

Add a material folder

1. In Project Explorer, right-click Materials, point to Add Item, point to Materials, and then click Material Folder. A new Material folder appears.

   

2. Rename the folder with a meaningful name. For example, Coal, Liquids.

Add a material

You can add as many materials as you require to a Materials folder.

3. Right-click the Material folder, point to Add Item, point to Materials, and then click Material. A new material item appears.

   

4. Rename the material item with a meaningful name.

5. Configure the properties. For guidance in configuring the properties, see Material properties.
