It is good practice to create calculated variables in a single Applications folder under the System Configuration folder. This makes it easier to edit and maintain calculated variables.

To create a calculated variables folder

  1. Right-click the System Configuration folder, point to Add Item, then Standard Items, then select Applications Folder. A new Applications folder appears.

  2. Rename the folder to Calculated Variables.

To add a calculated variable

  1. Right-click the Calculated Variables folder, point to Add Item, point to Variables, then click Calculated Variable. A new calculated variable item appears.

  2. Rename the calculated variable. This is the name that refers to the calculated variable from elsewhere in the project.

  3. Configure the properties. For guidance on configuring the properties, see Calculated variable properties.
