AVEVA™ Production Management

Material conversions

A material conversion is a configurable item that specifies how AVEVA™ Production Management converts a quantity of source material to a quantity of destination material when their units of measurement differ. For example, when the source material is measured in liters and the destination material is measured in kilograms.

When you configure a material movement, you can specify the material conversion to use if the material movement requires one. If the destination quantity is available from the plant's instrumentation, however, you might prefer to use an expression that acquires the information from the instrumentation. This method might be more accurate than the use of a material conversion.

When the destination quantity is not available from the plant's instrumentation, however, you can use a material conversion that you have already created or an expression that you create in the material movement item.

Note: You are not able to select a material conversion item until material constraints with materials are added to the material movement item.
