Use this functionality to:

  • Update existing parent and parts records, based on the data in the Excel file.

  • If parts records in the Excel file are missing from the database, create them in the existing parent.

  • Replace existing parts if the Excel data includes new parts.

  • Override counter values for parent and part tag.

  • Import case data.

  • Import distributed attributes for both parent and parts record, preserving the name of the parent record.

  • Create tags, according to naming rules.

    Note:
Create have parts only if there is an attribute mapping available or if mapping of child parts' attributes is available.
The Excel file must contain Name/Ref attributes of parts so that record/update records created are based on these values.

Example:

  1. In the Configuration module, create a DbView with parents and parts data for, for example: a pump with nozzle and flange. Then map with the source element attributes.

  2. On the Manage tab, in the Import group select List. Navigate to the required Excel file and click Select. In the Excel Import Wizard, the Choose a Configuration pane is displayed.

  3. Select a configuration to use for the import, then click Next. The Worksheet and Database View configuration pane is displayed.

  4. Select the database view to create or update for each worksheet listed. Click Next. The Excel and Database View column configuration pane is displayed.

  5. Specify the Database view columns to be updated during the import and click Next. The Counter mapping pane is displayed.

  6. To override the counter, map the Excel column with the write attribute, click Next and save changes.
