Type mappings allows multiple applications to share a name format by using the same naming rule from Name allocation library.

A naming rule can be mapped to one or many types.

On the Rules tab, in the Tag Naming group, select Type Mappings to display the Naming rules type mapping window

Expand the folders under Classes to view mapped naming rules.

For a new type mapping, select '+' under Classes to display the Name part and Attribute headers.

In New/Edit Type mapping select the browser button on the right of Naming Rule to display the Naming rules and name contexts window.

Note: The Engineer module must be restarted after changes are made to naming rule definitions or type mappings in order for the updates to be reflected in the Engineer module.

Select the naming rule to populate the Naming Rule window. For example, 2part.

This populates Name part.

Next, click the browse button next to Type to display the Select class window. Search Root Node or select the class required.

This populates Naming Rule and Class fields.

For Attribute, select the browse button to display the Select attribute window. Choose an attribute and click Select.

The Name part and Attribute window is populated.

Select OK. This completes the type mapping and clears the window.
