Add Termination Diagram Template Symbol Insertion Points

Add Termination Diagram Template Symbol Insertion Points

When setting up an Electrical or Instrumentation Termination Diagram template, you must add insertion points to specify where the symbols on diagram using the template will start to be placed.

You can add multiple insertion points to a Termination Diagram template. This allows you to create Termination Diagrams with multiple columns of termination data. When you generated a drawing from such a template, the software places the first assigned object at the insertion point with the lowest sequence number. It then places the subsequent symbols vertically below that insertion point.

The software continues placing symbols until one would overlap or extend beyond the bottom drawing boundary. It then places that symbol at the insertion point with the next sequence number. The process then repeats for the subsequent symbols and insertion points. If the assigned drawing content exceeds the available insertion points and space on a sheet, a new sheet is automatically created, and the process repeats from the first insertion point on that new sheet.

Add Symbol Insertion Points to an Electrical or Instrumentation Termination Diagram Template

  1. Add the insertion points to a template by dragging and dropping the Insertion Point symbol onto the template. For example:

As insertion points are added, they are automatically assigned a sequence number, starting from 1.

  2. You can use the Attributes window to edit a sequence number, which then changes the order and positions in which the software adds symbols to drawings using the template.

    Note:
If the sequence number is missing from the insertion points on a template, as long as they are all within a content extents boundary, the Terminations Diagrams will still be generated from the template. The software will instead use the X-axis position to determine which is the first insertion point to use, which is second etc. However, it is still recommended that sequence number values are entered to ensure that Termination Diagrams are correctly generated to your requirements.

See Setup Explorer and Attributes for further information.
