Create Object Assembly

Creates an object assembly which is constructed using a set of individual symbol, drawing and annotation elements. The object assembly is created using a selected symbol as the initial symbol on the drawing canvas.
The symbol palette that the object assembly is to be created in, below the assemblies node, must be selected on the Setup Explorer prior to creation.
On the Drawing tab, in the Create group, select Assembly and select Object from the dropdown menu to display the Create new Object Assembly window.

Type a unique name for the object assembly.
If the name is not unique, an error message displays summarizing the problem.

Use the Select symbol window to specify the symbol to be used as the initial symbol on the drawing canvas.

Full class hierarchy
Displays the full class hierarchy in the class list.
Classes on symbols
Displays only classes that are used by symbol templates in the class list.
All Symbols
Displays all symbols.
Selected class symbols
Displays only symbols that are associated with the currently selected class in the class list.
Selected class and child symbols
Displays only symbols and child symbols that are associated with the currently selected class in the class list.
Search class list
Type a string to be searched in the Search field, matching content is displayed below the field.
Alternatively, navigate through the tree hierarchy and select a class.
Options
Modifies the symbol display size in the Select symbol window.

Displays the symbols at 64 pixels. |

Displays the symbols at 96 pixels. |

Displays the symbols at 128 pixels which is the default display size. |
Search symbols
Type a string in the Search field, all symbols are searched for matching content. The search results are highlighted with a yellow background.

The arrow on the right of the Search field displays a drop-down list of search filters that are available for selection.

Press Ctrl+F to clear the Search field.
Hover the mouse over a symbol name to display additional information for the symbol.

Drag and drop existing symbols from the symbol palette, draw and annotate the object assembly using the blank drawing canvas, the object assembly is created as a member element of the currently selected symbol palette on the Setup Explorer. By default, the Graphical Canvas - Symbol Editor tab is displayed.
The Attributes window indicates the assembly type.

Use the Attributes window to define the associated connection point definitions for each symbol in the assembly.

The example displays an object assembly named PC-Telephone Connection. The object assembly contains three symbol elements with intelligent text and intelligent connection points.

A marker point can be added to an object assembly to define the origin point of the assembly when placed onto the drawing canvas in the Engineer module.
