Define Data Source Scope

Once a data source has been defined, the elements from within that source can be further restricted by defining a data source scope.

Only the elements within the chosen scope are examined by the data source, and only those that meet the selection criteria of the data source are returned in the report. For example, element types or filters.

  1. On the Report Designer tab, in the AVEVA group, click Scope to display the Scope window.

The Scope window is used to specify a list of elements. The report is restricted to source data at and below the level of the selected elements in the element hierarchy.

  2. Select the CE check box to make the current element permanent within the scope.

    Note:
If the CE is modified, so is the scope of the data source.

  3. Click Add CE to add the currently selected element on the Model Explorer to the scope. The element is added to the Root Elements list. Multiple elements can be added to the Root Elements list.

  4. If required, click Remove to remove an the currently selected element from the Root Elements list.

  5. If the scope of the data source is to be restricted to elements either partially within or completely within a specified volume, select either Partially Within or Completely Within from the Volume drop-down list to display the Volume window.

  6. Specify the required volume and click OK to return to the Scope window.

  7. Specify whether the scope is to be restricted to elements in the drawlist or in the obstruction list using the From drop-down list. Alternatively, leave the drop-down list set to the default selection of MDB, allowing all elements in the database to be in the scope.

  8. Click OK to save the scope settings and exit the Scope window. Click Cancel to exit the window without saving.

    Note:
If root elements, added to the scope, are no longer available in the current database, the DbRef is displayed using the format "=dbref[0]/dbref[1]".
