Add Symbol

Adds a symbol to a drawing.

  1. Drag a symbol from the Symbol Palette to the canvas and release the mouse button.

    With no mouse button selected, move the mouse to position the record as required.Alternatively, use the left and right arrows on the keyboard to enable the X and Y fields and input coordinates.

    At this stage you can right-click and use options on the PowerWheel™ to pan the view left and right and to zoom in out.

  2. Press the down arrow on the keyboard.

  3. Select Single or Multiple according to whether you want to place the symbol once or multiple times.

  4. Click the left mouse button.
    The symbol is placed at the chosen position.

  5. If you selected Multiple, continue to click the left mouse until you have placed all the symbols you require. Then press the Esc key.

The context editor indicates the position of the symbol and the New Tag window is displayed. Use the New Tag window to define the symbol class and the number of created symbols.

Note:
If the symbol contains a leader line, the leader line can be connected to an engineering item.

Note:
If an assembly is added to the drawing which contains multiple symbols, the New Tag window is displayed for each symbol in the assembly. The symbol which is currently being created is highlighted on the drawing canvas.

The item types that can be used on a drawing are defined using the Configuration module. For example, Engineering item types or Functional item types. If the symbol cannot be dragged and dropped onto the drawing canvas because the item type is not valid, a message is displayed.
