Centerlines are added to the drawing canvas by dragging from the Symbol Palette, P&ID Explorer or directly from the grid.
Centerlines are created as connectors.
Use a connector decorated with a piping network system class to create a centerline, piping network segment and piping network system.
Use a connector decorated with a centerline class to create a centerline only. The piping connection symbol can be used to add a centerline to an existing piping network segment. A piping connection symbol must be connected to an item within an existing piping network segment, it cannot be added to the drawing canvas without a connection.
The example displays three centerlines and their references to the piping network segment and piping network system grids.

Connected Items
Centerlines can be connected to equipment items, nozzles and inline components.

The first connected and second connected values indicate the items that are connected to a centerline.
To display the first connected and second connected attributes, select the centerline on the drawing canvas.
Open the Attributes window and navigate to the First Connected or Second connected attribute.

Attribute Propagation
If the created centerline is connected to an existing piping network system, the following attribute values are propagated from the associated piping network system to the centerline:
-
Bore
-
Paint Specification
-
Piping Number Identifier
-
Pipeline Fluid Specification
-
Number
-
Pipeline Insulation Specification
-
Pipeline Specification
-
Pipeline Tracing Specification
Additional attribute values can be defined to propagate from the piping network system to the centerline using the attribute propagation settings in the Configuration module.
Refer to Symbol Palette, P&ID Explorer, Add Grid Records, Draw Connectors, Piping Network System, Piping Network Segment, Assign Bore, Assign Number, Assign Fluid Specification, Assign Insulation Specification, Assign Piping Specification, Assign Tracing Specification, Assign System Specification, Advanced Settings and Attribute Propagation for further information.
