Assign Content to Termination Drawing

The content of an existing Termination Drawing, meaning the Electrical and Instrumentation items and connections it shows, may be added using facilities accessed from the Drawings Explorer.

Note:
You can also define the content of a Termination Drawing creating the content of the diagram, for example an enclosure, and then creating a drawing for that content. See Create Drawing for more information.

Assign Items to a Termination Drawing

  1. Right-click on the Termination Drawing in the Drawings Explorer and select Assign Content.

The Assign Drawing Content dialog opens:

  2. When the dialog is first opened, the Available Content grid is blank. From the Content Type list, select the type of equipment items with terminals that you are going to add to the drawing. The list consists of all item types that have items with terminals assigned from a terminal arrangement, for example Enclosure, Instrument, Device, Motor, MCC, Transformer etc.

The Available Content grid then lists all equipment of the selected type that have terminals, either from assigned terminal arrangements, or sub-equipment with terminals.

  3. By default, the Available Content grid does not list items already assigned to a drawing (the current drawing or any other Termination Drawing). To include these items in the Available Content grid, click to clear the Hide assigned content checkbox. Select the checkbox to hide these items again.

  4. When the dialog opens, the Assigned Content grid lists all items of equipment with terminals that have already been added to the drawing, if any. The items in this list will change as items are added or removed.

  5. Both the lists display the items in a hierarchal arrangement for any item of equipment, or sub-equipment, that has terminals

Sub-equipment will only be listed under its parent equipment. For example, if a circuit breaker is assigned to a junction box it will be listed under that junction box in the hierarchy of items. It will not be listed at the top level of the hierarchy. Only parent equipment, and not child sub-equipment, is displayed at the top level.

  6. Both grids can be queried to filter the items displayed. See Filter Grid Data for further information.

  7. To select items to assign to the Termination Drawing, select their checkboxes. This will also automatically select the checkboxes of the items below the selected item in the hierarchy, selecting them for assignment also.

Deselect items lower in the hierarchy by deselecting their checkboxes, which will in turn deselect items beneath them in the hierarchy.

  8. Once you have selected all the items to be added to the drawing, click the >> Assign button.

The selected items are then moved to the Assigned Content grid, listed along with any items that were already assigned.

If the Hide assigned content checkbox is selected, they are also hidden in the Available Content grid.

  9. To remove items from the Termination Drawing (or just from the Assigned Content grid, if you have not saved the current selection yet), select items from the Assigned Content grid as described for the Available Content grid, and click << Remove.

  10. Once all the items you need to assign to the drawing are listed in the Assigned Content grid, click OK to save the item selection and close the dialog.

When the Termination Drawing is next opened, the selected items and their connections will be included in the drawing.
