Use the Create new symbol variant window to create a symbol variant. A symbol variant is used to change the default symbol display on a drawing. For example symbol variants can be used to display left or right pin variants on termination drawings.

Type a unique name for the symbol variant.

If the name is not unique, an error message displays summarizing the problem.

The symbol variant is created as a member element of the currently selected symbol variants folder on the Setup Explorer.

Use the Attributes window to define the symbol variant type and display name.

The example displays four symbols, two left symbol variants and two right symbol variants.

The pin symbol must have a left connection point and a right connection point, the sequence for both connection points must be 1.

Use the Attributes window to define the Class and Symbol variant values for each symbol.

The symbols can then be added to the Default Symbols for the drawing type.

The example displays symbol variants on an engineering drawing.

The available left and right symbol variants for drawings can be specified.

Refer to Attributes and Drawing Settings for further information.
