Assign Sub-Equipment

Equipment items can be associated with other equipment items as sub-equipment. For example, a motor can be associated as the sub-equipment of a pump.

Note:
If an equipment item is deleted, all associated sub-equipment items are deleted.

Add the sub-equipment item to the drawing canvas by dragging from the Symbol Palette, P&ID Explorer or directly from the grid.

The sub-equipment item can be rotated to the correct orientation and positioned directly on the drawing canvas.

The prompt Select the item that this is a part of is displayed.

Click to identify a valid equipment item to create the association.

Note:
If the selected equipment item is not valid, the sub-equipment item is not added to the drawing canvas. An error message displays summarizing the problem.

The example displays the association between a pump and a motor. The HavePart Mechanical Driver attribute of the pump displays the association with the motor.
