Export and Import Datasheet Templates

  • Last UpdatedAug 19, 2024

You can export multiple datasheet templates from a source project and import them to a target project. The exports include the templates' database views and view sets. These prerequisites apply:

  • The source and target projects must be derived from the same conceptual model.

  • The element types and attributes in the source must be available in the target.
This requires that the conceptual model is imported and built before you export.

  • The target must have the same revision blocks and statuses as the source project.

A .dtl (datal) file is created for each template. You can open and edit datal files in a text editor. A datal file contains details of each template's data source, and the names and values of the attributes in the source template.

Export datasheet template

In the Datasheet view, select the templates to export.
You can select from multiple datasheet template groups.

  1. Select Export>Datasheet Templates.

  2. Browse to the folder to which to export the templates.

  3. Click OK.
A message confirming the export is displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Import datasheet template

When you import datasheet templates, you cannot select individual templates (datal files) to import. All the templates in the folder to which they were exported are imported.

  1. On the Libraries tab, select Import>Datasheet Templates.

  2. If no datasheet templates world exists, the Database selections form is displayed. Select the correct database and click OK:

  3. Browse to the folder that contains the templates to import.

  4. Click OK.

Imported templates are highlighted in bold in the Datasheet View during the current session.
