The P&ID explorer is accessible from the P&ID tab of the Engineer module.

The PFD explorer is accessible from the Simulation tab of the the Engineer module.

For the purposes of this guide, the P&ID explorer is used as an example.

The content of the P&ID explorer is loaded from the project and displays the definitions that are assigned to P&ID disciplines. The sample projects (AVEVASEEDPROJECT/MASTERLIBRARYPROJ) provide predefined P&ID explorer content with two hierarchies:

  • Items displayed on any P&ID drawing.

  • Unassigned items, items not displayed on any P&ID drawing.

The sample definitions are saved in the structure database and can be accessed with other definitions for the flexible explorer.

For other projects, the default P&ID explorer configuration can be customized using the functionality available on the Structure tab.

The following elements can be created to define a Project Breakdown Structure (PBS) for the P&ID explorer:

  • Template world

  • Template definition

  • Text node

  • Object node

Note:
The created template definitions must be associated with a valid discipline to display on the P&ID explorer.

To associate a discipline, select a template definition element and select Associated disciplines to display the Select disciplines window.

On the Select disciplines window, select the required check box.

The PBS templates are used by the flexible explorer addin which displays elements in the project explorer, accessible from the Home and View tabs in the Engineer module.

To avoid displaying the P&ID explorer configuration in the project explorer, select the required template definition elements and set Show in Project Explorer to False.

Refer to P&ID Explorer, PFD Explorer, PFD Explorer Configuration, P&ID Explorer Configuration and Project Breakdown Structure for further information.
