Import CAD Symbols

  • Last UpdatedJun 25, 2024
  • 2 minute read

Imports previously created CAD symbols from a selected location in the format of a .dwg, .dxf or .dwt file. The symbols are imported as member elements of the currently selected symbol palette.

Navigate to and select the files for import.

The application maps the imported symbols to available classes in the conceptual model by matching the filename with a class. The filenames of the imported files should match the intended class and may need modifying.

Note:
If two files are to be mapped to the same class in the conceptual model, name the second file with a .1 naming convention to successfully map to the correct class.

Location

Displays available locations to load an existing symbol in the format of a .dwg, .dxf or .dwt files.

File name

Once selected the file name for the selected .dwg, .dxf or .dwt file is displayed.

Use the Import DWG Symbols window to import the selected CAD symbols.

If the application cannot map the symbol to a class in the conceptual model, the Class column is not populated.

Add

Use the Import symbols window to select individual or multiple symbols for import. The selected symbols are added to the Import DWG Symbols window.

Remove
