Migrate Naming Rules

Migrate Naming Rules is designed to read the naming rules definitions from a Tag Management Register (TMR) enabled project. It migrates the naming rules to the Name allocation manager naming rules library, in the CONNECT folder of the Scope that is linked to the Engineering project.

Note:
When Scope is not configured in Engineering Configuration, Migrating Naming Rules is greyed out and inactive.

To configure scope in Engineering Configuration, refer to NAM.

  1. On the Rules tab, in the Tag Naming group, select Migrate Naming Rules to display the Naming rules migration window.

  2. The application reads the data and displays a log that shows Naming rules found, Processed naming rules, and Not processed naming rules. A warning at the bottom of the window indicates that Save Work is automatically carried out.

  3. Select OK to initiate the Migrating naming rules process. The naming rules are migrated to Name allocation manager.

  4. The log displays the number of Processed naming rules.

  5. Select Open Log to view all the processed naming rules and Not processed naming rules.

    Note:
Naming rule migration can only be processed once. When the process is complete, the Migrate naming rules will no longer display in the Tag Naming group.

  6. Migrate Naming Rules automatically creates Type Mappings and Name Context Mappings in Name allocation manager. On the Rules tab, in the Tag Naming group, select Type Mappings to display the automatically created mappings.

  7. From the navigation pane, in the NAM dashboard homepage, select Home to display the number of Naming rules that migrated.
