Import Datasheet from Excel

Imports a previously created datasheet from a selected location in the format of an Excel file. The imported datasheet is compared with the currently opened datasheet and modifications are highlighted.

Location

Displays available locations to load an existing datasheet in the format of an Excel file.

File name

Once selected the file name for the selected Excel file is displayed.

Use the Datasheet Excel Import Wizard to define the mapped tags and attributes for the imported datasheet.

Accept

Defines the tags that are imported.

If the check box is selected, the tag is included in the import.

If the check box is not selected, the tag is not included in the import.

Use Select All or Clear Selection to select or deselect all check boxes.

Imported attribute mappings which differ from the current datasheet mappings are highlighted.

Accept

If the check box is selected, the attribute is included in the import.

If the check box is not selected, the attribute is not included in the import.

Use Select All or Clear Selection to select or deselect all check boxes.

The task summary indicates errors or warnings during import.

Imported attribute mappings which differ from the current datasheet mappings are highlighted in the datasheet.

Example - Import a Modified Datasheet

This example assumes that:

  • The currently open datasheet has previously been exported to Excel.

  • The data in the exported datasheet has been modified in Excel.

  1. Click anywhere in the currently open datasheet.

  2. On the Manage tab, select Import>Current Datasheet.

  3. Browse to the exported datasheet and click Open.
    The Datasheet Excel import wizard is displayed.

  4. Select the check boxes of the tags whose attributes you want to import and click Next.
    The import wizard lists the attributes that have been modified in Excel.

  5. Select the check box of each modified attribute to import and click Next.
    A summary of the import's progress is displayed.

  6. Click Finish.
