Query the List of Attributes

The attributes available for an element will depend on its type, for example, a site will have different attributes to a branch. The lists of valid attributes can be obtained as follows:

  1. The ATTLIS attribute returns the list of all non pseudo attributes for that element. This list includes User Defined Attributes (UDAs) and hidden attributes. The same list is used for the PML DBREF ATTRIBUTES method.

  2. The ATTOUT attributes is as for ATTLIS but excludes hidden attributes. This list is used when doing a ‘Q ATT’ and by the attribute utility form. Attributes that are hidden can still be queried individually in the normal way.

  3. The valid UDAs can be queried using the UDALIS attribute. This includes hidden UDAs.

  4. The PSATTS attribute returns the list of valid pseudo attributes. Typically this list is large, running into the hundreds.

Note: Querying PSATTS can be slow.
