Design Reuse

Design Reuse is a .net addin which simplifies the work required by copying engineering items and datasheet instances between projects.

The following objects can be exported/imported using design reuse:

• Engineering items

• Datasheet instances.

Prerequisites for the import of engineering items

The required datasheet templates, definitions of distributed attributes, User Defined Attributes (UDAs) and User Defined Element Types (UDETs) must be defined in the target database prior to the import of a transfer set.

Limitations

• All parents of the exported elements must be named

• Exported elements should be named, if not, the import may create duplicate items if the imported element already exists in the target database.

Graphical User Interface

The Graphical User Interface (GUI) is a .net addin and is included in the application framework by using the general customization tools provided by AVEVA. The interface works together with the command interface and can be mixed.

Use the Design Reuse window to import or export items and to define the import/export settings.
