Setting up the Project Breakdown Structure Definition in Lexicon

To display Project Breakdown Structure (PBS) data, a template definition must be created. The template definitions are known as PBS Flexible Explorer Template definitions. PBS Flexible Explorer Template definitions are created in Lexicon and stored in the dictionary Database.
PBS Flexible Explorer Template definitions must be created below PBS Flexible Explorer World (PBSWLD) elements. Refer to Create a Flexible Explorer Templates World for further information. PBS Flexible Explorer World elements own PBS Flexible Explorer Template definition elements (PBSTPL). Each PBS Flexible Explorer Template definition represents a separate PBS hierarchy and is presented in a PBS as a single root node. Refer to Create a Flexible Explorer Template Definition for further information. This makes it possible to define several PBS structures, for instance one structure for engineering elements organized by the owning systems, another structure for schematic elements organised by classes and another to represent the 3D model data.
PBS Flexible Explorer Template definitions can also be created in an XML file.
Beneath the PBS Flexible Explorer Template definition (PBSTPL) the following objects can be created:
-
PBS Flexible Explorer Object Nodes (PBSOBN)
-
PBS Flexible Explorer Text Nodes (PBSTXN)
PBS Flexible Explorer Object Nodes (PBSOBN) represent database elements. Refer to Create a Flexible Explorer Object Node for further information. PBS Flexible Explorer Text Nodes (PBSTXN) represent text nodes (not related to database elements), the latter can be used for organising the data. Refer to Create a Flexible Explorer Text Node for further information. In both cases it is possible to choose different ways of populating the hierarchy nodes with database elements. In order to position nodes below appropriate parent nodes, Project Breakdown Structure Criteria (PBSCRT) can be used. Refer to Create a Flexible Explorer Criteria for further information.
The nodes are generated at runtime depending on the definition and database content.
