Customizing a Graphical User Interface

Most AVEVA products make use of a Graphical User Interface (GUI) to drive the software. The interfaces provided with the AVEVA software are designed to apply to a wide range of situations and business needs. However, as you become more experienced with AVEVA products you may want to design an interface that is more closely related to your requirements.

PML 2 has been specifically designed for writing and customizing the Forms and Menus for AVEVA products. Almost all the facilities available in PML 1 and the older Forms and Menus facilities continue to function as before even if they are not documented here.

Before you begin customizing a GUI, you must have a good working knowledge of the command syntax for the AVEVA product you are working with. The commands are described in detail in the reference manuals for the products.
