Import Symbols from DEXPI File

The procedure describes how to import symbols from a DEXPI file.
Requirements

AVEVA Unified Engineering must be installed.

Name Allocation Manager must be installed.

Engineering classes and attributes are mapped to the DEXPI schema. Refer to Class and Attributes Mapping for further information.
Procedure

On the Drawing tab, in the View group, click Setup Explorer to display the Setup Explorer.

Select the required symbol palette.

Right-click and select Import DEXPI Symbols from the drop-down menu to display the Open window.

On the Open window, navigate to the required DEXPI file (.xml) and click Open to display the Import DEXPI Shape Catalogue Symbols window.
The Preview tab lists the symbols that are available for import.
Note:
Any DEXPI schema (3.3.3/4.0.1/4.1.1) with a shape catalog is supported.
To sort the list of symbols, select a column heading. The list is the sorted by that column.
The Selected column indicates whether symbols are new or existing.

The Engineering Class column displays the Engineering class to which the symbol is mapped.

To map a DEXPI schema class to a symbol, select the symbol and select Select Class. See Select Class Window for details.

To view or change the import options, select the Options tab:

Use the Import symbol texts check box to specify whether symbol texts are included in the import.

Use the Hide duplicates check box to specify whether duplicate symbols are included in the import log.

Select the required level of logging detail from the Logging level options.

Select the required check boxes in the Selected column and click Import to import the selected symbols.

After the import, you should make sure the selected symbols are imported, and connection points are imported correctly.
