Create DBVIEWs from the conceptual model

Use the wizard functionality to create a dbview based on the conceptual model.

Note:
The Edit functionality has been removed for AVEVA Engineering 15.1, to edit a db view, use the dbview editor functionality available from Configuration to change it in terms of the User defined Elements (UDET) and User Defined Attribute (UDA) details.

  1. In the Configuration module, in the Post Build group select Database View. The Data Model Database View Creator window is displayed and the Database View Details page is displayed.

  2. Enter a name for the Database View Name field.

  3. Enter a description for the database view in the Database View Description field.

  4. Click Next, the Class(es) for Database View page is displayed populated with the classes available for selection.

  5. In the Select Classes pane, navigate to the required class(es), if required enter a key word in to the Search field to the filter the list of classes.

  6. Click to check the required check box(es) for the attributes to be displayed as columns in the database view.

  7. Click Next, The Attributes for Database View page is displayed populated the attributes available for selection.

  8. In the Select Associations to become Columns pane, click to check the Select All check box.

  9. Click Next, the Associations Columns for Database View page is displayed populated with the associations available for selection.

  10. In the Select Associations to be Columns pane, click to check the Select All check box. All of the selections will be displayed as columns in the db view.

  11. Click Next, the Associations for Database View page is populated with the attributes on associated classes available for selection. The selected associations will be represented as columns in the db view.

  12. In the Associations pane, click +, the Select Associations to use as Source Element in Database View window is displayed.

  13. To view the associations on the class, click to expand the list.

  14. Select the required association(s), once selected the associations are displayed in the Associations pane.

    Note:
    Only the blue test in the list can be selected.

  15. In the Attributes pane, click to check the Select All check box.

  16. Click Next, the Build Database View page is displayed populated with a summary of the selections made.

  17. To view the details, classes, attributes, associated classes (and their attributes), click to expand the required summary.

  18. Click Finish to build the DBView Definition, once built the following window is displayed.

  19. Click OK.
